# Wellspring: Philosopher jurors:
The philosopher jurors are a group of New Intellectuals who have the exclusive right to serve as Weighted Jurors in Judicial Review cases.
The Philosopher jurors are one of the capstones atop the archway of protections to safeguard the `WS` constitution. They serve as the non-democratic mechanism which protects the Republic's constitution by gatekeeping legislation. The people themselves are the bricks of the arch, who elect sensible and pro-Enlightenment legislators. The right to bear arms is the foundation stone of Liberty.
The people should guard the Philosopher Jury zealously against infiltration by philosophers who are not New Intellectuals.
## Nomination:
Once every 10 years the current membership of the Philosopher Jury may nominate any number of **eligible** candidates to join the Philosopher Jury. The legislature shall then vote on each of the nominated candidates. Finally, a popular vote shall be used to determine which of the candidates shall be appointed to the Philosopher Jury.
Only one candidate may join the Philosopher Jury per 10 year period.
## Period of service:
Philosopher Jurors shall serve for lifetime terms.
## Eligibility criteria:
## Membership ratification:
The membership of the Philosopher Jury should take care to nominate only New Intellectuals; and only such New Intellectuals who have distinguished themselves among New Intellectuals as having a deep, inductively sound understanding of the New Ideal.
## Disbarment:
Most importantly, the membership should take caution to nominate only those candidates who in addition to meeting the above criteria, have also gained prestige and credibility as being stalwart, outward, explicit defenders of the New Ideal; as well as being known, influential promoters of the New Ideal with practical impact on the culture.
## Removal from office:
### Legislative impeachment:
Should a Philosopher Juror take an action which brings the Philosopher Jury into disrepute, the legislature may launch an impeachment proceeding against that individual juror. If the legislature's impeachment vote goes against that juror:
* If a trivial majority vote of the populace goes against that juror, they shall be removed from office.
* If said juror isn't voted out by the populace, then if a trivial majority of the current membership of the Philosopher Jury votes to impeach that juror, they shall be removed from office.
...In that order.
### Disavowal:
Should a Philosopher Juror take an action which the other members evaluate as being an indication that such a juror is no longer a New Ideal philosopher and instead embraces an anti-New Ideal philosophy:
Then a 2/3 majority vote by the current membership of the Philosopher Jury may disavow that Juror and remove them from office.
Should a juror be disavowed, the Philosopher Jury shall write clear opinion statements detailing their reasons for disavowing that juror and stating exactly in which areas of philosophy that juror had embraced anti-New Ideal philosophy.
